Advocate Anthony Robinson recently represented Tamara Mellon and Ogier Trustee (Jersey) Limited in an action brought by RBC Trustees (CI) Limited in their capacity as trustee of Mrs Mellon's mother's trust. The dispute related to the ownership of certain shares in the Jimmy Choo business held in a Jersey trust structure, which were sold to Towerbrook Investors in a private equity buy-out in 2007. The case, which was set down for a five week trial in November and December 2009, settled three weeks into the trial, following the cross examination of RBC's 11 factual witnesses. Under the terms of the settlement, RBC agreed to drop its claim to any part of the sale proceeds of the shares and each party agreed to bear its own costs.
